To 'For Sale By Owner' or Not To 'For Sale By Owner'?... That is the question.

In some cases, people think the best idea may be to sell their home themselves. I can appreciate this, because that is actually how I began my Real Estate career back in 1998!  I thought we might be moving... so I took a Real Estate class.  I learned two things from this class. 

#1.  I had no idea all of the things that go into selling a home.                                                              

#2.  I was so interested in Real Estate law, marketing, contracts, etc.  I was hooked immediately!

I understand your thoughts in considering doing this 'on your own', because I once had the same thought.... Saving Money!  If this was a good option, then there would not be Realtors.  98% of For Sale By Owners eventually list with an agent.

  • You will need an expert who understands contingencies, cash offers, and so much more.

When you think about it... Why does a seller want to FSBO?

According to NAR, sellers who FSBO or using a limited service broker actually makes 17% less profit, than if they would have listed and sold with a full service brokerage.

Why would a buyer want to purchase a FSBO home?                                                                            

To get a 'deal' and pay 6% less for a home, since there is not a Realtor involved.                            

How does that accomplish you making more profit by not having representation from a Realtor?
